About the PGGC 2020

The Plant Genetics and Genomics Conference 2020 aims to bring together the scholars working in the field of plant genetics and genomics. It covers basic science as well as modern biology from species description by taxonomy to species modification by gene editing. It is envisioned to be a conglomeration of students, researchers, and academicians. It will be a platform for exchange of knowledge, networking, innovation and technology transfer. The conference will be rewarding the achievers and motivating the youngsters to excel in plant science research.


SRM Insitute of Science & Technology

SRM Institute of Science and Technology (formerly known as SRM University) is one of the top-ranking universities in India credited with A++ from NAAC and Category-I Institution from the Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Government of India. SRMIST has more than 3,200 faculty providing quality education to about 50,000 students. We offer undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs in Agriculture, Engineering, Medicine Management, Law, Science, Humanities, and several other areas. SRM IST is also a recipient of National Intellectual Property Award 2018 in the category of Indian Academic Institution for Patents and Commercialization from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.

Department of Genetic Engineering

The Department of Genetic Engineering at SRMIST was started in the year 2004, which offers B.Tech, M.Tech and PhD in Genetic Engineering. The Department provides unique curriculum with interdisciplinary skill development, hands-on training, industrial placement and work experience. The Department takes immense care to impart knowledge in highly interactive mode to provide hands-on training in advanced molecular techniques and to enable the students to conduct research in cutting edge areas in genetics and advanced biology. The Department functions with 7 advanced laboratories for teaching and research purposes, including Genomics lab, Molecular Genetics lab, Genetic Engineering lab, Stem cell biology lab, Radioactive research lab. The areas of research being undertaken include genetic engineering of plants, genome sequencing, DNA barcoding, and gene editing.
